Form requirements

  • Passengers must complete a Traveller Surveillance Form (Afyamsafiri) online if travelling to Tanzania mainland, or on the Zanzibar website if travelling to Zanzibar, within 24 hours prior to arrival.

Test requirements

  • Unvaccinated passengers: Passengers aged 6 and older must hold a negative RT-PCR or NAAT test certificate with QR code from an approved laboratory obtained within 72 hours prior to departure.
  • Vaccinated passengers: Test is not required for fully vaccinated passengers who can present a valid certificate with QR code proving they are fully vaccination upon arrival. Vaccines approved by Tanzania or the WHO are accepted.
  • This does not apply to the following passengers:
    • Passengers holding a positive Covid-19 test certificate, provided also holding proof they have recovered from Covid-19 obtained from authorised medical personnel;

    • Passengers aged 5 years and younger;
    • Passengers in transit;
    • Crew members.

Quarantine and testing on arrival

  • Passengers who have been in Congo (Democratic Republic of), Egypt, France, India, Malawi, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom, or the United States in the past14 days will be subject to health screening and a rapid test on arrival at their own expense ($10 USD for mainland Tanzania and $25 USD for Zanzibar). If a positive result is received, passengers will be tested with a PCR test for confirmation.
  • This does not apply to the following passengers: 
    • Passengers aged 5 years and younger;
    • Fully vaccinated passengers travelling to Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ);
    • Passengers in transit;
    • Crew members.
  • Passengers who hold a positive rapid antigen test result must quarantine for 14 days or more at their place of residence. Passengers who await their PCR test result taken on arrival must self-quarantine until a negative result is received, or until 14 days of quarantine have passed. Passengers may end quarantine by presenting a negative PCR test result.
  • Passengers arriving in Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere International airport (DAR) or Kilimanjaro International airport (JRO) will be subject to a PCR test at their own expense of $100 USD on arrival. Passengers must self-isolate until they receive their test result.
  • This does not apply to the following passengers:
    • Passengers that are fully vaccinated against Covid-19;
    • Passengers holding a negative RT-PCR or NAAT test certificate with QR code from an approved laboratory obtained within 72 hours prior to departure; or
    • Passengers aged 5 years and younger.
