Vaccination requirements

  • Vaccination is not required for travel but if you are fully vaccinated you may face less travel restrictions.
  • Passengers are considered fully vaccinated against Covid-19 if they have received one of the following:
    • a full vaccination course at least 2 weeks prior to departure;
    • for passengers aged between 12 and 18 years, at least one dose of the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at least 2 weeks prior to departure;
    • at least one dose of a 2-dose vaccine before/after recovery from Covid-19 within the last 6 months, provided they hold proof of infection obtained at least 7 days prior to departure.

Insurance requirements

  • Passengers must hold Covid-19 insurance of USD 12 with one month cover of USD 75,000 that also covers any accompanying children. The insurance must cover the entire length of stay plus an additional 14 days in Sri Lanka. This insurance may be purchased on arrival in Sri Lanka before passengers leave the airport.

Test requirements

  • Unvaccinated passengers: Passengers aged 12 years and older must hold a negative PCR test certificate tested within 72 hours prior to departure or a negative Rapid Antigen test certificate obtained within 48 hours prior to departure. The test certificate must be in English, and the Rapid Antigen test certificate must not be performed through a self-swab.
  • Vaccinated passengers: This does not apply to passengers who hold proof that they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The proof of vaccination must be in English.
  • Other exempt passengers:
    • Passengers who hold proof that they have recovered from Covid-19, provided it was issued between 7 days and six months prior to arrival and that they have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccination; or
    • Passengers aged 11 years and younger.
