Entry restrictions

  • Valid until 30th June 2022: Passengers are not permitted to enter Vanuatu.
  • This does not apply to the following passengers:
    • Nationals of Vanuatu;
    • Residents of Vanuatu, provided they have resided in Vanuatu for the last 3 years;
    • Passengers holding a valid residence permit issued prior to April 2020;
    • Business owners holding a valid residency visa;
    • Dependants of a valid residency visa holder who are currently in Vanuatu (passengers must apply for a residency visa prior to arrival in Vanuatu);
    • Passengers holding a special category visa issued prior to April 2020, provided holding approval from Vanuatu immigration prior to arrival;
    • Partners holding a valid residency or special category visa.

Vaccination requirements

  • Passengers aged 18 years and older must hold proof that they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 with two doses of a 2-dose World Health Organization (WHO) approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to departure, or one dose of a 1-dose WHO approved vaccine at least 28 days prior to departure. The vaccination certificate must be an official Government certificate in English and it must include the passengers name, date of birth, vaccine type, number of doses received, and dates received. Passengers must upload the certificate to the Vanuatu Electronic Traveller System at least 24 hours prior to departure when applying for health clearance.
    • Exemptions may be granted for nationals of Vanuatu on a limited basis at the discretion of the Vanuatu government. They should be applied at least 2 weeks for prior to travel by emailing mohtravel@vanuatu.gov.vu.

Form requirements

  • All passengers must register with the Vanuatu Electronic Traveller System at least 24 to 72 hours prior to departure. Passengers will receive the approved Health Clearance via email and must hold a printed copy prior to travel.
    • Passengers who hold a Covid-19 vaccination certificate must also upload it on this system.

Test requirements

  • Valid until 30th June 2022: Passengers must hold a negative PCR test obtained within 24 and 72 hours prior to departure and they must upload it to the Vanuatu Electronic Traveller System when applying for health clearance.
  • Valid from 1st July 2022: Passengers must hold a negative PCR or a rapid antigen test obtained within 24 and 72 hours prior to departure or a certificate of recovery obtained within 28 days prior to departure. Passengers must upload the test result or the certificate to the Vanuatu Electronic Traveller System when applying for health clearance.

Quarantine and testing on arrival requirements

  • Valid until 30th June 2022: Passengers travelling from Australia, Fiji, New Zealand or New Caledonia must quarantine for 3 days on arrival, provided they have not been in any other country in the last 14 days and they must take a test on day 2 or 3. Passengers travelling from other countries must quarantine for 7 days on arrival and they must take a test on day 6. Passengers must quarantine at their own expense in a in a government-mandated quarantine hotel or in a recognized Community Quarantine Center.

  • Valid from 1st July 2022: Passengers must hold proof of booking and pre-payment for a rapid antigen test to be taken between 48 to 72 hours after arrival.
