Insitutions are opened for children of parents who cannot take care of children at home (e.g. because they work in essential sectors). On the 24th April; Austria’s Minister of Education announced a road-map to incrementally reopening the country’s schools in three stages set a fortnight apart. On May 4th; students preparing for their final exams; both for the academic high-school diploma (Maturanten) and for vocational certificates and trade-orientated schools (Berufschulen) will be allowed back in to class. On June 3rd all other pupils will return to school. That will include older pupils at high-school grammars (Oberstufen in Gymnasien) who are not taking exams this years as well as all other pupils attending vocational schools and technical high schools (HTLs) and others. There will a system of shifts for those pupils returning on May 18th and June 3rd. Half the pupils of every class will be at schools on Monday; Tuesday and Wednesday; the other half on Thursday and Friday. The halves will switch every week so that each pupil attends 5 days school over a 14-period. Extra-curricular activities such as sport and music are currently suspended.

Fernunterricht. Diese Maßnahme bleibt auch mit den neuen Lockdown-Regelungen bestehen. Update vom 12.07.2020: Fortsetzung des Fernstudiums. ; 02.08.2021: Hochschulen dürfen wieder für Inhouse-Vorlesungen geöffnet werden. Dies muss strengen Regeln folgen und jede Universität kann individuell entscheiden, in welchem Umfang sie Studierende hereinlässt. Studierende haben die Möglichkeit, sich regelmäßig testen zu lassen. Bibliotheken; Hörsäle und Lernzonen sind wieder geöffnet.; 28.02.2022: Präsenzpflicht an der Hochschule wieder.

Universities will be continue to hold lectures only online; but exams will be possible. Update: University will re open for the winter semester 2020 and lectures will take place regularly. If the 'corona-traffic light' that has been implement will be on yellow; orange or red measures will be taken accordingly; which means if Vienna is a RED ZONE Unis will be shut again and lectures will be online whereas Unis in green zones will be open.

Due to a regional cluster in Upper Austria all schools; kindergarten and daycare institutions were closed for the duratioan of one week in 5 districts: fünf Bezirken Linz-Stadt; Linz-Land; Wels Stadt; Wels-Land und Urfahr-Umgebung.
