In the period between December 16; 2020 and January 10; 2021 contacts in schools should be significantly restricted. During this time children should this be cared for at home whenever possible. For this reason; schools will; generally be closed during this period or compulsory attendance is suspended. In some federal states (e.g. Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg) schools are closed; while in others (e.g. Berlin; Brandenburg) compulsory attendance is suspended. Emergency care will be ensured and distance learning will be offered. Additional possibilities will be created for parents during this period to take paid leave.; 5/01/2021: it was decided to extend this measure until 31st January.; 19/01/2020: The Federal state and regional governments decided to extend all measures until 14th February.; 10/02/2021: it was decided that the lockdown will be extended until the 7th March. However; The federal states will decide within the framework of their educational and cultural sovereignty whether to gradually return to face-to-face teaching in schools and whether to expand the range of daycare services.; 3/03/2020: T measure was extended till 28 March.;22/03/2020: the measures in Germany were generally extended until 18th April. However; federal states can decide themselves when they are to open schools again and return to face-to-face lessons. The measures in the school setting can differ by federal state. Some other federal states currently only have an emergency operation in place and will only go back to normal later in the summer (1/06 Schleswig-Holstein and 1/08 in Lower Saxony)
