Restrictive measures mandatory between 05 November 2020 to 01 June 2020
Retail businesses of beverages and foodstuffs (supermarkets, minimarkets, butcheries, etc) and pharmacies, shall only serve persons who are over 65 years old and persons with disabilities, from opening time until 9am and from 1pm until 2pm. The Mall of Cyprus and Nicosia Mall welcomed on Tuesday their first customers since mid-March after Cyprus further eased measures put in place to curb the spread of the pandemic. They announced that hotels will reopen on June 1. – Museums, archaeological, and historical sites will reopen (from June 1). – Betting shops (from June 1) – Libraries (from June 1) – Hairdressing salons, barber shops and beauty centres will resume operation (from May 21) – Catering business will resume operation only outdoors and in strict adherence to the protocols of the Ministries of Labour and Health (from May 21). The epidemiological situation permitting, May 21 will see the lifting of all restrictions on movement of citizens. Catering establishments will be allowed to open outdoors and hairdressers salons, barbers and beauticians will resume operation. From4 May under the terms and conditions included in the relevant instructions and protocol of the Minister of Health: restrictions in the manufacturing sector and in all related business activities which support this sector are lifted. All businesses in retail trade, except commercial centres and big department stores, can start operating. Flee markets, street vendors and bazaars can open for business. Tourist offices and tourist agents can start working again. From June 9 to July 13 malls/department stores, catering indoors and outdoors will be reopen. All, excluded kiosks and catering (catering only on April 19), must close on April 19 and 20 (Easter Sunday and Monday) including electronic and telephone sales. The lockdown in Cyprus is to be extended until the end of April. The following retailers will remain closed every Sunday: All food and beverage retailers (e.g. supermarkets, grocery stores, butchers, fish markets, bakeries, confectioneries, fruit shops, liquor stores). It is understood that kiosks are excluded from the ban, provided that they do not market retail products. Car dealerships will shut from 6 am on March 25 until 6 am on April 13 under a new decree issued by Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou late on Tuesday adding these businesses to those required to close. Restrictive measures mandatory between 05 November 2020 to 15 January 2021
-The regulation for the operation of indoor and open-air cinemas, theatres and performance halls at 50% capacity, continues to be in force. -The holding of conferences, assemblies and/or events in indoor conference venues, is allowed with a maximum number of participants set at 250 persons, in accordance with the protocol and the measure for social distancing at 3 sq.m. per person, regardless of the square metres of each facility. Intermissions or coffee/snack/cocktail breaks within the framework of the event are not allowed. -As regards the holding of weddings and christenings, from 13 November 2020 until 15 January 2021, cocktail parties and well-wishing ceremonies are not allowed. Physical presence is only allowed at lunch or dinner, with a maximum number of attendees set at 150 persons. It is understood that the maximum number of persons per table cannot exceed 6 persons. -The maximum number of persons allowed to gather in houses and public places, with the exception of catering establishments, is set at 10 per house/group, inclusive of under-aged children. -Operation of catering establishments and enterprises is permitted until 10:30 p.m. Catering services are considered the following: restaurants, catering services in hotels and tourist accommodations, catering services in malls and department stores, taverns, cafeterias, pizzerias, pubs, snack-bars and bars, coffee shops, canteens and/or refectories of sports clubs, cultural clubs, associations, societies, etc. It is clarified that the above establishments may provide delivery services after 10:30 p.m. Catering services at the Airports of Larnaka and Pafos are excluded from the prohibition. -The maximum number of persons allowed in catering establishments is set to 75 persons in indoor areas and to 150 persons in outdoor areas. -The maximum number of persons per reservation/table/group in catering establishments is not to exceed 6 persons. -Church services and other form of religious worship in churches, mosques and other religious places, as well as religious ceremonies shall be performed in the presence of maximum 75 persons and according to the relevant protocols in force for the places of religious worship. -The holding of matches in sports establishments in the context of sports championships is permitted, without spectators, subject to the relevant protocols. -The operation of children’s playgrounds is permitted, with a maximum number of 50 persons in indoor playgrounds and 150 persons in outdoor playgrounds, subject to the social distancing measures in force based on the square metres of each establishment. It is understood that organizing events at playgrounds (e.g. children’s birthday parties) with more than 10 persons – including adults and children - per event is forbidden. -The use of changing rooms in gyms is forbidden. The following measures are put into effect on an island-wide basis until the 2nd November 2020: - Attendance at house gatherings and public assembly places, excluding catering establishments, is allowed with a maximum number of 10 persons per house/group, including underage children. - Church services, as well as religious ceremonies, shall be performed according to the instructions of the Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus. - The holding of matches in sport premises, in the context of athletic championships, is allowed without spectators being present, provided the relevant protocols are applied. - The maximum number of persons allowed to be served in catering establishments is set at 75 persons in indoor areas and 150 persons in outdoor areas. The measure that continues to be in force is that of maintaining social distancing of 3 sq.m. in each case for indoor areas and 2 sq.m. for outdoor areas per person, regardless of the square metre area of each establishment. Provided that in each case no more than 10 persons may occupy a single table. - Cocktail parties and well-wishing ceremonies at weddings and christenings are prohibited. Physical presence is only allowed at lunch or dinner with a maximum number of 350 persons attending. - The holding of events, such as conferences, day-events, assemblies, concerts, theatre performances, dance or music performances, etc., is allowed in both closed and open venues, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health. - The functioning is allowed of Indoor and open-air cinemas, theatres and performance halls at 50% capacity. - Retail businesses of drinks and food (bakeries, supermarkets, mini-markets etc.) and pharmacies shall only serve persons included in the vulnerable groups of the populations between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. In addition to the above, and due to the deterioration of the epidemiological picture and the increased epidemiological load in the city and district of Lemesos, the following measures have been decided until 26 October 2020: - The functioning of catering establishments (cafeterias, bars, restaurants, snack-bars, etc.) is allowed until 10.30 p.m. - It is strongly recommended that members of the public restrict their movement after 11.30 p.m. In addition to the above measures, it is recalled that by a Decree of the Health Minister the use of facemask by the general population, aged 12 years and above, is mandatory for all in closed, indoor areas as described in the instruction issued by the Ministry of Health. Extraordinary measures in Limassol and Nicosia due to increase of COVID-19 cases. The measures will last for 10 days, meaning until 23 October. The Health Ministry decided to implement additional measures in the Nicosia and Limassol Districts due to increase of the COVID-19 cases in these areas. -Individuals are permitted to attend gatherings in houses and public meeting areas, with the exception of catering places, not exceeding a maximum number of 10 persons per house/group, including underage children. -Mass attendance and other forms of religious worship in churches, mosques and other religious places, as well as religious ceremonies, shall be performed with a maximum number of 75 persons, subject to the protocols in force for places of religious worship. -The holding of matches in the sports venues of Nicosia and Limassol Districts in the context of athletic championships, is allowed without the presence of spectators, provided that the relevant protocols are observed. -The maximum number of persons allowed to be served in catering establishments in Nicosia and Limassol Districts is set at 75 for indoor spaces and 150 for outdoor spaces. -The functioning of cinemas, theatres and performance halls is allowed with a maximum number of 75 persons in indoor spaces and 150 persons in outdoor spaces, subject to the guidelines and protocols in each case. -Cocktail parties and well-wishing at weddings and christenings is prohibited. Physical presence is only allowed at lunch or dinner, with a maximum number of 350 attending persons. Extended duration of contingency measures in force in the District of Larnaca In the follow up to the additional contingency measures that came into effect for Larnaca District as of 23 September 2020, the Ministry of Health announces that by a Minister of Health Decree today, the validity of the measures is renewed until midnight, October 14: - Individuals are permitted to attend gatherings in houses and public meeting areas, with the exception of catering places, not exceeding a maximum number of 10 persons per house/group, including under age children. - Mass attendance and other forms of religious worship in churches, mosques and other religious places, as well as religious ceremonies, shall be performed with a maximum number of 75 persons, subject to the protocols in force for places of religious worship. - The holding of matches in the sports venues of Larnaca District in the context of athletic championships, is allowed without the presence of spectators, provided that the relevant protocols are observed. - The maximum number of persons allowed to be served in catering establishments in Larnaca District is set at 75 for indoor spaces and 150 for outdoor spaces. The social distancing measure of 3 sq.m. for indoor spaces and 2 sq.m. for outdoor spaces per person continues in force in each case, regardless of the area of each establishment. For example, if a catering establishment in the Larnaca District has an outdoor area of 400 sq.m. and on the basis of maintaining a 2 sq.m. distance per person it could serve up to 200 persons, the number of customers may not exceed 150 persons. If an establishment has a 300 sq.m. indoor area and on the basis of maintaining a 3 sq.m. distance per person it could serve up to 100 persons, the number of persons may not exceed 75. Provided that in each case not more than 10 persons may occupy a single table. - The functioning of cinemas, theatres and performance halls is allowed with a maximum number of 75 persons in indoor spaces and 150 persons in outdoor spaces, subject to the guidelines and protocols in each case. - Cocktail parties and well-wishing at weddings and christenings is prohibited. Physical presence is only allowed at lunch or dinner, with a maximum number of 350 attending persons. Additional measures in a bid to control the alarming spread of covid-19 in Larnaca came in effect early on Thursday for a period of two weeks: Under the new measures, gatherings in people’s homes in Larnaca would be limited to ten people including children. The figure is 50 elsewhere. Churches, mosques and other religious sites must limit gatherings to 75 in accordance with other protocols in place such as wearing masks. Sporting events must take place without spectators, while the maximum number of people allowed to be served in restaurants is set at 75 indoors and 150 outdoors. In addition, social distancing of 3 sq.m indoors and 2 sq.m. outdoors per person regardless of the size of the venue is a must. The operation of cinemas and theatres is allowed with a maximum number of 75 indoors and 150 persons outdoors, observing in each case the guidelines and protocols. Cocktail parties and ‘congratulations’ at weddings and baptisms are prohibited. Only a physical presence at lunch or dinner is allowed, with a maximum of 350 people in attendance. Moreover, random laboratory testing of 3,000 people in the Larnaca district began early on Thursday. Maximum number of persons at cultural and political events should be 350 under the compulsory obligation of being seated Home weddings and christenings with over 50 guests only with prior approval by Health Ministry Measures to contain the spread of covid-19 in Limassol are the following: The maximum number of people in gatherings in homes and public places, excluding catering establishments, will increase from 10 people to 50 people. The measure will be re-evaluated according to the island’s epidemiological state of play next week. Measures to limit the maximum number of people in catering establishments to 75 people indoors and 150 people outdoors, regardless of square footage, remain in effect. In churches, the presence of people is to be determined on the basis of square footage available depending on the protocol which regardless of this will not exceed 75 people. It was further decided that all other measures applied on an island-wide basis, like the mandatory use of masks indoors, remain in effect. The maximum number of persons allowed to attend social gatherings at home and/or in public places (physical presence in the same premises/installation regardless of indoor and outdoor areas), increases from 150 to 250 persons for outdoor spaces and from 75 to 100 persons in indoor spaces. The maximum number of persons allowed to be served in catering establishments increases to 250 in outdoor spaces. As regards indoor spaces, the maximum number remains unchanged at 100 persons. In each case the social distancing measure of 3 sq. m. for indoor spaces and 2 sq. m. for outdoor spaces per person remains in force, regardless of the area of each establishment.
