A regulation in place by the Public Health Agency of Sweden stipulating that visitors to serving establishments must be seated when drinking and eating thereby partially closing the function of a 'bar' in such establishments. This regulation was revoked and replaced with a parlimentary law (2020:526) in force since 1 July 2020 and complemented by a new regulation (2020:37) by the Public Health Agency of Sweden specifying at least a 1 metre distance between persons.

Since April 1; there has been a general ban on visiting elderly homes throughout the country. This ban was extended to 31 August. On 21 July; for nursing homes there is still a general restraining order; until 31 August. However; in order to counteract negative effects such as anxiety; loneliness and social isolation; the person in charge of operations can grant an exemption from the ban if a person has antibodies. Ban has been extended to 30 September.

On March 6 Iceland’s Chief Epidemiologist and the National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police’s Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Managemen declared the highest alert level - an emergency phase- as a result of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus that causes the COVID-19 disease. This was done in accordance with the Pandemic National Response Plan. On 25 May Iceland has lowered its COVID-19 alert level from ‘emergency’ to ‘danger’.
